The Wild Beast of Central African Republic today recorded a famous 1-0 victory over hosts Nigeria to throw open Group C of the 2022 World Cup qualifier.
Karl Namnganda delivered the killer goal in the 90th minute, when he cashed in on a mix-up between Leon Balogun and William Ekong.
Nigeria remain top of Group C with six points, while CAR are second on four points.
Cape Verde also have four points with Liberia bottom of the standings on three points.
The Super Eagles will stage a rematch with CAR on Sunday in Douala, Cameroon, in continuation of the qualifying series.
Today, Nigeria failed to break down a very organised defence put up by the Central Africans, who will then produce a shocker with a late winner.
The second half produced more chances after Taiwo Awoniyi made his Super Eagles debut when he came in for Kelechi Iheanacho at the start of the second half.
The Union Berlin striker came close to open scores in the 53rd minute from inside the box, but his goal-bound shot came off a Central African Republic player for a corner.
He will again come close with a header minutes later.
Nigeria were also stunned in the 66th minute, but goalkeeper Uzoho was alert to first block a shot from inside the box before he dived to hold the ball firmly.
Osimhen’s header will then miss the goal by just a foot a minute later.
The home team continued to push forward for the go-ahead goal with Awoniyi and Osimhen all coming close to make the difference.
The first half saw the home team fail to go past the low-block defence put up by the Wild Beast.
It was a first period of very few chances as the Eagles pushed forward and Central African Republic were happy to sit back in their defence.
In the 26th minute, Napoli striker Victor Osimhen fired his shot sky high when he was somehow put through on goal.
Kelechi Iheanacho will then try an ambitious, curling effort from distance with his favoured left foot in the 33rd minute, but it missed the mark narrowly.
