Nigeria captain Okechukwu Azubuike has declared the team hope to beat Sudan in a 2020 Tokyo Olympics playoff so as to make the home leg a formality.
The team of 18 players and 12 officials arrived Khartoum International Airport aboard an Ethiopian Airline around 12:00am Nigerian time.
“We are pleased to be in Sudan ahead of the must-win match against the Sudanese team. We hope to win the match so as not to play under any form of pressure in the return leg in Asaba, Azubuike told SCORENigeria
“As a team, we know it is only victory that can ensure our qualification to Olympics.”
The match is billed for the Omdurman Stadium, about 25 kilometers away from the capital city of Khartoum.
The Nigeria U23s will have their first training session today at 4:00 pm Nigerian time.
The return leg match is slated for September 10 at the Stephen Keshi Stadium in Asaba.
