Captain Ahmed Musa has said he will accept if he did not start today’s 2021 AFCON qualifier against Benin in Uyo as he has been away from the team for some time now.
He has also only just returned from injury, which sidelined him for two and a half months.
The Saudi Arabia-based winger said coach Gernot Rohr could well start with the team who were forced to a 1-1 draw with five-time world champions Brazil in a friendly last month.
“If the coach stuck with the team against Brazil, it will be okay by me,” he said.
“I watched the match and they played well.”
However, Ahmed Musa stressed the importance of winning their opening qualifier in front of the home fans.
“It’s important to win the first game,” he said.
Today’s match will kick off at 5pm.
