The Blue Sharks of Cape Verde have stayed within striking distance of the Super Eagles in Group C of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers after they did the double over Liberia today.
They snatched a late win over the Lone Star of Liberia at home just days after they won the first meeting 2-1 to now have seven points, two points behind leaders, the Super Eagles of Nigeria.
Next month, Nigeria travel to Liberia in continuation of the qualifiers, while Cape Verde welcome Central African Republic before both Super Eagles and the Blue Sharks do battle in a final showdown in Nigeria.
Qualification from this group to the final playoffs in March 2022 could well go down to this clash.
The Eagles won 2-1 in Cape Verde last month.
