SCORENigeria can report that after losing out on heading the NPFL, CAF head of safety and security Christian Emeruwa, is now being “pushed” to be the new NFF general secretary.
His nomination is by an influential former NFF president, who this past week also failed to get him to lead the NPFL following the sacking of the various league bosses.
Emeruwa has been on secondment to CAF from the NFF.
He contested for the NFF presidency four years ago.
“A former NFF president who still wants to call the shots at the federation is the one pushing for this appointment,” a source informed SCORENigeria
“It’s simply a case of still being in control of the NFF, just as he had when (Mohammed) Sanusi headed the NFF secretariat for the past 11 years.
“He just does not want to let go his grip on Nigerian football.”
The NFF general secretary is appointed by the NFF executive committee on a contract basis as against the previous arrangement where he was deployed by the sports ministry (now NSC).
