It was a winning start for Nigeria’s flag bearers in the CAF Champions League as both Enugu Rangers and Remo Stars got off to a winning start today.
Rangers pipped Zilimadjou of Comoros 1-0 courtesy of a 22nd minute strike by Frank Uwumiro.
The return leg will also be played a week from today at the same Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo.
Remo Stars also beat visiting ASFAR of Morocco 2-1 in their own preliminary round clash of the Champions League.
Captain Nduka Junior headed the home team ahead in the 19th minute.
The Moroccans drew level on 50 minutes through a header by Joel Beya, before Sodiq Ismail grabbed the winner after he had provided the assist for the opening goal.
The NPFL runners-up wasted several chances in front of goal.
The return leg will be played in Rabat next Sunday.
