Super Eagles will be at the 2023 AFCON without Wilfred Ndidi due to injury and already Antwerp midfielder Alhassan Yusuf has been drafted as a late replacement.
All 24 teams for the AFCON will submit to CAF a final squad tomorrow, but have till January 10 to make changes in the event of injury.
SCORENigeria has been exclusively informed that the injury suffered by Leicester City midfielder Ndidi has effectively ruled him out of the AFCON.
The defensive midfielder missed his team’s home win over Huddersfield Town Monday on account of this injury.
Both Super Eagles coach Jose Peseiro as well as the team administrator have since contacted Alhassan Yusuf to report to the AFCON training camp in Dubai, which opened today.
Alhassan has yet to be capped by the Super Eagles despite his fine run in Belgium with double champions Antwerp.
He was only named on a 40-man provisional squad for the AFCON before his late call-up.
whatever happens in the super eagles camp, if they fail to fly then it is NFF’s fault followed by this coach who shouldnt be coaching our team at all.
i was under the impression that each team was to take a minimum of 27 players but the NFF decided on 25 players. leaving out players like Alhassan Yusuf who is the most innovative midfielder we have in Europe right now along with an unknown ishaq addulrasaq. they also dropped terem moffi who is younger and more driven than ahmed musa whose experience will help no one on the bench.
now two of our most influential players are down injured and if they dont recover in time for the competition, you can bet that there will be a crisis in the team because without ndidi in the midfield we dont have anyone who can hold the midfield and without kelechi iheanacho upfront, the forwardline lack creativity. he has the ability to create and score goals. so we will be left with wing-play which is predictable and ineffective once we are playing top teams.
NFF and peseiro have really messed up this time . i can only hope that the current players pull off a surprise but without this two players and adequate replacements it will be difficult.
He who fail to plan i e in Arabic English or hindi plan to fail full stop .
Nff shud have started with a 2 week camp in Nigeria. Some of the good guys on holiday would have reported to camp .. I see most of them going to radio and tv stations to comment on issues.. those guys unknown are playing in lower league in Europe that wanted to make name mixed with npfl players . A team will be brewing now and by the time this spoilt Hollywood leg reports in camp the team wil be ready for any country. But as the situation is now before they converge in Dubai take taxi to Abu Dhabi and take pictures together just like we can see the coaching crew picture of which I ve never seen even wen they are in Abuja. It wil remain a day or two to fly back to Nigeria. So wat training have dey done in Abu dabi.even they wil never play a friendly with UAE national team not to talk of Al shabab. I don’t even know the stadium dey wil use in training.. anyway a secondary school Field is around the hotel dey will be staying.
