The Super Eagles will be gunning for maximum points against Benin and Rwanda in final 2025 AFCON qualifiers, according to caretaker coach Augustine Eguavoen.
Nigeria top Group D with 10 points after four matches and will need at least a point to qualify for the 2025 AFCON in Morocco.
As first reported by SCORENigeria, Eguavoen is away in Belgium on medical leave ahead of the final AFCON qualifiers.
Super Eagles assistant coach Daniel Ogumodede has told reporters that Eguavoen has told them that regardless of the permutations, the team have to go for all six points against Benin and Rwanda.
“The head coach said the two games are cup finals, that’s the mentality we are using for both matches,” Ogunmodede said.
“We go into each game to win, so we want all the points at stake regardless of qualification for the AFCON.”
Ogunmodede said Eguavoen scouted Nasarawa United defender Victor Collins, who he described as one of the best left-footed central defenders in the NPFL.
Nigeria are guests of Benin on November 14 in Abidjan, before they welcome Rwanda to Uyo four days later to wrap up the qualifying series for the 2025 AFCON.
