Belgium international and former Spurs defender Toby Alderweireld has praised the red-hot form of Alhassan Yusuf at high-flying Antwerp.
Antwerp have won their first three league games of the new season and will Thursday progress to the playoffs of the UEFA Conference League as they are expected to confirm their superiority over Lillestrom after winning the first game in Norway 3-1.
“Alhassan reads the game well and keeps working. He is doing great, especially with the right coaching and tactical guidelines. He has started the season very well,” Alderweireld remarked after Antwerp won their third straight league game against OH Leuven.
Alhassan Yusuf said he is happy it is going well for him in his second season at Antwerp.
“I am in great form and the midfield is also running very well at the moment. The relationship with Nainggolan and Gerkens is fine,” he told GVA.
“As a defensive midfielder I try to keep the game under control.
“The coach makes everything much easier for me. He gives me a lot of tips about tactical discipline and how to choose positions.”
The result is that the 22-year-old midfielder has played almost six full games at a high level in less than 20 days to again alert top clubs across Europe of his class.
He was named in the Team of Week 2 in Belgium and on Sunday he provided an assist for Antwerp to stop OH Leuven 4-2.
