Paul Onuachu has been showered with high praise after shooting again to the top of the goals chart in Belgium.
Onuachu scored a brace at the weekend to now take his tally for the season to 14 goals.
Former Club Bruge star Gert Verheyen was very impressed with the giant centre-forward.
“Just look at how many of our bigger clubs, whose number nine is not firing. Genk are an exception. Paul Onuachu is, together with Dieumerci Mbokani (Antwerp), the only real deep striker at a top club who scores goals”, Verheyen told Het Nieuwsblad
The analyst has also been impressed with his many qualities.
“What he does very well is always aim, as it should be with a real deep striker. His positional play is excellent. His decisions to come in front of his man or in his back are often the right ones,” he remarked.
“It’s hard to learn that it is a matter of feeling. It seems that Onuachu gets a lot of good crosses. While it is Onuachu who makes the crosses look good.”
Onuachu has also flourished in a 3-4-3 formation.
“Onuachu has shone again in the system as he did at Midtjylland under Jess Thorup: as centre forward in a 3-4-3, flanked by two wingers, Ito and Bongonda,” Verheyen explained.
“These three players have helped Genk achieve results.”
