Victory for Egypt over the Super Eagles in a battle of heavyweights Tuesday will propel the Pharaohs to an eighth AFCON title, according to former star Ahmed Hossam aka Mido.
Egypt open their AFCON campaign against Nigeria Tuesday by 5pm in Garoua.
“It will be massive for us to start well with a win over Nigeria,” Mido said.
“That will help us to go on to win an eighth AFCON even though Senegal and Algeria are favourites to win this tournament.
“Egypt have shone at the AFCON because of the solidarity in the team.”
There are as many as nine players from African champions Al Ahly on the final squad to Cameroon.
The seven-time champions landed in Cameroon Saturday after a Coronavirus outbreak delayed their departure from Cairo.
