Calvin Bassey was top-notch and very much at home as new club Ajax fired four unreplied goals past his former club Rangers in a UEFA Champions League tie tonight.
Bassey assisted Mohammed Kudus for Ajax third goal in the 33rd minute, just as he had done at the league in the Dutch league.
The left-sided central defender played the entire 90 minutes and was hardly troubled by the attack of the visitors from Scotland.
Rangers were poor particularly in the first half when they shipped in three goals.
It was a forgettable return to the biggest stage of European club football for Rangers.
Next week, Rangers welcome Napoli to Scotland, while Ajax will be guests of Liverpool in continuation of the Champions League.
