Russian club CSKA Moscow are confident the transfer ban imposed on them for not paying the balance for the transfer of Chidera Ejuke from SC Heerenveen will be lifted soon.
FIFA have banned CSKA Moscow from transfers until mid-2026 after they failed to pay the balance of Three Million Euros to Heerenveen for the transfer of Ejuke in 2020.
CSKA Moscow said they offered Heerenveen other options in respect of this payment.
“It is important to emphasize that we never refused to pay. We offered Heerenveen various options,” a spokesperson responded, quoted by the Russian Sport-Express.
“There is therefore no reason to worry about this ban. It will be lifted.”
The Russian club also dismissed FIFA as inconsistent because they have also been trying to collect the transfer fee from West Ham United for Nikola Vlasic for years, according to the club.
‘The Hammers’ took over the Croat in 2021 for 30 Million Euros, but due to sanctions, payment has not yet been made.
CSKA therefore offered that West Ham would transfer part of the millions to Heerenveen. However, that solution was not accepted.
“After this decision by FIFA, we do not expect a different outcome in our case with West Ham, they still owe us around 20 Million,” they argued.
“If we do not pay and get a ban, similar sanctions should be imposed on West Ham. Let’s be consistent.”
