The Super Eagles striker has endured some harsh knocks as critics say he lacks the killer instinct and confidence in front of goal.
However, Awoniyi again answered the critics when he fired Forest third goal at Blackburn Rovers in the 79th minute.
He received a pass from Jesse Lingard, outsmarted and outran his marker before he slotted home with ease.
His goals against West Ham and former club Liverpool gave Forest maximum Premier League points, but manager Steve Cooper has yet to give him a regular run out as spearhead of the attack.
