Taiwo Awoniyi has today been handed a second chance with the Super Eagles in recognition of his fine form with German Bundesliga side Union Berlin.
Officials told SCORENigeria that Awoniyi, who scored his fifth goal in the Bundesliga today to give Union Berlin victory at Mainz 05, has replaced fellow striker Terem Moffi, who suffered today in action for his French club FC Lorient.
Awoniyi, who has been capped by Nigeria at U15, U17, U20 and U23 levels, has previously been called up by Gernot Rohr, but injury stopped him from his Eagles debut.
The striker has got his mojo in Germany after his permanent transfer this summer from Liverpool.
SCORENigeria further gathered that Moffi, who incidentally replaced injured Everton star Alex Iwobi, injured his shoulder after he collided with the goalkeeper of Clermont.
A scan will be done later tomorrow to determine the extent of the injury.
