Struggling Boavista will be without Chidozie Awaziem for next weekend’s relegation dog fight against closest rivals Farense after he picked up his second red card of the season.
Awaziem committed a professional foul on a goal-bound Benfica player and was sent off after just eight minutes of action as Boavista fell 2-0 in Lisbon.
The defender, who is on loan from fellow Portuguese clubs FC Porto, has been handed a one-match ban for the dismissal.
The 24-year-old Awaziem also bagged a straight red card in January in a 3-1 loss to Tondela.
He has also accumulated five bookings.
Boavista are only two points ahead of Farense, who are in the relegation playoffs bracket.
