Super Eagles defender Chidozie Awaziem has hit the ground running after he immediately resumed training with his new Croatian club Hadjuk Split.
Awaziem has signed on loan from Portuguese club Boavista for the season with an option for a permanent transfer.
Split sports director Mindaugas Nikolicius said the 25-year-old defender turned down more lucrative deals to move to Croatia.
From the first contact with him, we felt that he was interested in coming to Hajduk because he wants to fight for trophies,” Nikolicius said.
“He turned down many significantly more lucrative offers precisely because of this and thus proved that he puts football development, the desire to progress and play at a high level before money.
“I am of the opinion that the qualities he possesses will improve our team.”
Last season, he played on loan at Turkish club Alanyaspor.
