The dream of Tolu Arokodare to be crowned champion of Belgium in his most prolific season ever is gradually slipping away after Genk lost for the second straight game in the Championship Playoffs.
Union Saint Gilloise beat visiting Genk 1-0 to go top of the standings with 47 points, a point ahead of Club Brugge with three rounds of matches to the end of the season.
Saturday night in Brussels was a story of Nigerian strikers – Arokodare and Promise David.
Arokodare played the entire match, but could not add to his goals tally, while Promise David, who has opted to play for Canada instead of the Super Eagles, saw his penalty saved by the Genk goalkeeper.
Former Flying Eagles winger Yira Sor was a late sub by Genk as they chased for an equaliser.
