Tolu Arokodare is under heavy fire at Genk amid talks that the Belgian club are doing everything to get back goals machine Paul Onuachu.
The Genk fans clearly showed their disapproval of the big Nigerian striker Sunday, when they cheered his substitution.
This season, Arokodare, who was signed from French club Amiens in January, scored two headed goals against Servette in the preliminary round of the UEFA Champions League, but otherwise he was very poor, according to Voetbalkrant.
In the Belgian league, he started for the first time against Charleroi after he was a sub in the first three games of the new season. But he failed to deliver the good.
Against Charleroi it became painfully clear that he cannot bring into play what the Genk coach expects of him. He was barely found by his teammates in the box and often saw his dribbles uncompleted before he could be dangerous. He managed to fire one shot on target, from an impossible angle.
Last season, he scored on his debut against AA Gent, but then injuries troubled him for almost the entire season. In the playoffs, he managed to score against Antwerp, otherwise it was a no-show by him.
This report comes at a time that Genk are doing everything to get Onuachu back from Southampton.
A swap deal that would involve Joseph Paintsil going in the opposite direction is now believed to be back on after the Ghanaian winger first rejected such a move.
