Tolu Arokodare has said he is delighted he is back as joint top scorer in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League.
The Super Eagles striker scored his 21st goal of the season when he came off the bench in Genk 4-1 win over Gent Sunday.
He scored 17 goals in regular season and four in the Championship Playoffs.
He is now tied with Adriano Bertaccini of St.Truiden, who scored 16 goals in the regular season and five in the playoffs.
“It’s nice to be top scorer again,” Tolu told DAZN.
“I knew I wouldn’t start (the game). Of course, we have other players who deserve to play minutes in the Play-offs, so I could understand that choice.
“We were strong. We gave everything offensively, and that is reflected in the result. It was important to get this victory, especially after such a long period without a win. This will give us extra motivation to win the last home game as well.”The title is no longer within reach for Genk, but Tolu wants to give it one more shot.
“Of course there is still disappointment about not winning the title, but we do want to end the season in style,” he said.
