It was a Nigerian goals’ feast in Belgium tonight after Tolu Arokodare scored the winning goal on his debut for Genk with compatriot Yira Sor also finding target as Victor Boniface was among the goals in a big win by Union St.Gilloise.
Genk thus consolidated top spot in the Belgian Jupiler Pro League with a 3-2 win at Gent.
New signing Yira Sor gave them a 2-1 lead in the 67th minute.
It was his second goal since his winter transfer from Czech champions Slavia Praha.
Arokodare, who was a deadline Day signing from French club Amiens SC to replace Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu, grabbed what proved to be the winning goal in the 86th minute after coming off the bench.
However, Union stayed close to Genk with a 4-0 trouncing of Zulte-Waregem with Victor Boniface netting his team’s second goal in the 55th minute.
He has now netted four goals in the league.
Genk remain top of the standings with 62 points from 24 matches, seven points ahead of second-placed Union.
