The executive committee of the NFF headed by Ibrahim Gusau is soon to be dissolved following the resignation of more than half of its members, Arise TV has reported.
According to Arise TV, eight of the 13 members of the NFF board have quit their positions following recent disappointing results recorded by the country’s various national teams.
The resignation of a ninth member will lead to the dissolution of the board.
It reported that these members resolved that they are “tired of this show of shame and it is the time to pack up”.
However, the Arise TV report said NFF President Gusau is defiant about tendering his own resignation.
In the absence of a board, the secretariat will then take charge of the running of the sport in the country in an interim capacity.
The National Sports Commission (NSC) has maintained that this is not a witch hunt, but rather a chance to press the rest button and re-evaluate things so as to reposition Nigerian football that is now five years behind the best in Africa and 15 years behind the rest of the world.
