Coach Fatai Amoo has revealed that one of the keys to the Golden Eaglets stunning win over Burkina Faso was that they clipped the wings of their highly-rated foes.
The Eagles beat the Young Etalons 1-0 Friday night to book a place in the U17 AFCON in Morocco and also the final of the WAFU B tournament in Togo.
“We studied their games against Benin and Niger and we knew they attacked from the wings,” Amoo revealed after the match.
“They made good crosses with good players who can head the ball very well.
“We had to work on our defence to keep them away from our goal.
“We also motivated our boys, telling them they are improving.”
Nigeria will Monday take on group nemesis Cote d’Ivoire to decide the winners of the U17 WAFU B championship, which served as qualifier for the U17 AFCON.
