Youngster Akinkunmi Amoo has dismissed a media report that he has stayed away from training at Hammarby IF so as to force a transfer away from the Swedish club.
One of Sweden’s leading publications, Sportbladet, reported that the former Golden Eaglets star refused to train with Hammarby on his return from Nigeria.
However, Amoo countered this report, saying he asked for permission from the club not to train after a stressful journey from Nigeria.
Dear Bajen,
I have read a malicious story and I am disappointed in the sponsored story. My commitment level to Hammarby since the first day I arrived at this club has been 100%. My journey from Nigeria to Stockholm was a tedious experience. The journey took over 48 hours. pic.twitter.com/bI4Eq9hFyw— Akinkunmi Amoo (@OfficialAmoo) January 28, 2022
He wrote a lengthy message on Twitter to the Hammarby fans to explain the true story.
He described as the report as “misleading and unfair”, while restating his total commitment to Hammarby.
“My commitment as a professional can’t be quantified and I will always give my best in any condition and anywhere I find myself,” he vowed.
Amoo, who scored nine goals and made six assists last season, has been linked to various clubs including FC Copenhagen and Scottish champions Rangers.
He was considered as a late addition to the Super Eagles squad to the AFCON in Cameroon.
