Jerome Akor was involved in the match winner for Norwegian club Lillestrom to get off to a winning start in the UEFA Europa Conference League in Finland.
Akor celebrated his debut in a European competition when a rebound from his header was finished off for the winning goal in the 68th minute against home team SJK of Finland.
The former Flying Eagles striker was one of three Nigeria stars who started for Lillestrom as Igho Ogbu and Ifeanyi Matthew also featured.
Ebuka Samson was a sub for the Finnish club.
The return tie will be played on Thursday in Norway.
Akor, 22, has thus far netted six goals in 15 appearances in the Norwegian top league this season.
