Lillestrom sports director Simon Mesfin has admitted that striker Jerome Akor will soon be on his way out of the Norwegian club after his goals generated loads of interest across Europe.
Akor, 23, is the leading scorer in the Eliteserien with 15 goals in as many games thus far and he has since been linked with clubs in England, Germany and Belgium.
Nettavisen reported that the Belgian club Oud-Heverlee Leuven had a bid rejected by Lillestrøm two weeks ago.
Watford are also among the several English clubs who have shown an interest in the striker.
“Yes, it is likely that he will be sold during the summer here, but it is difficult to say when. But he will probably leave the club soon,”Mesfin told Nettavisen.
“There are clubs that watch him all the time, and there are clubs that contact his agent all the time. We have also turned down offers for him, so there is a lot of interest there.”
Mesfin further explained that he does not think anything will happen in the coming days, but at the same time does not rule out that things can change quickly in football.
Akor himself will not reveal much about his immediate future.
“Right now I haven’t discussed it (transfer interest) that much with my agent. I’m here as long as I’m here, and right now I’m focusing on performing for the club,” he maintained.
However, he admitted that he has noticed the interest around him recently and used the opportunity to thank his teammates.
“I am very grateful for the platform Lillestrøm has given me, and also for my teammates. I wouldn’t have scored so many goals if it wasn’t for them,” he credited.
