Jerome Akor has arrived France to undergo a routine medical and complete his transfer to Montpellier after his Norwegian club Lillestrom agreed a transfer fee of 4 Million Euros with the French Ligue 1 club.
According to L’Equipe, Montpellier moved in for Akor following the departure of striker Stephy Mavdidi to Leicester City.
The Ligue 1 club reached an agreement with the big Nigerian striker (1.91m) and his club, Lilleström SK.
The transfer fee should amount to €4 million, excluding bonuses to buy out his last year of contract.
Akor, 23, is the leading scorer in Norway this season with 15 goals in as many games.
The former Flying Eagles was also linked to Belgian Union St.Gilloise as a direct replacement for Victor Boniface, who has since signed for Bundesliga club Bayer Levlerkusen,
He was preferred by Montpellier to Mama Baldé, 27, whose club Troyes demanded between 8 and 10 Million €.
The price tag for the Guinean striker, who netted 12 goals and made four assists in 34 Ligue 1 matches last season, was considered too high by Montpellier.
