A first-ever but richly deserved Ballon d’Or nomination has given Ademola Lookman a head start to be named CAF Player of the Year for 2024.
He is the only African on a 30-man shortlist for the prestigious individual award.
The award ceremony is slated for October.
His heroics in the UEFA Europa League final as well as his contributions at the 2023 AFCON, where the Super Eagles reached the final, will also stand him in good stead.
He is therefore set to succeed fellow Nigeria star Victor Osimhen, who is reigning African Footballer of the Year.
