The Super Eagles and Atalanta forward was named as the 14th best player in the world on the Ballon d’Or night in Paris.
It is a recognition of a fantastic 2023/2024 season for both club and country.
“It’s very special for me to be here” Ademola Lookman said on the Ballon d’Or night.
“Big achievement for my country, for my club, for everybody involved, for my fans, so, it’s a special night.”
Former Super Eagles defender Sam Sodje said Nigerians are proud of the achievement of Ademola Lookman.
“It’s huge congratulations to Ademola Lookman and Nigeria. It’s a great achievement to be named the 14th best player in the world,” he remarked.
“This will inspire other Nigerian players.
“It has put him in good position to be crowned CAF Player of the Year.”
The hat-trick hero of the UEFA Europa League final in May is the overwhelming favourite to succeed Victor Osimhen as Africa’s No 1 player on December 16 in Marrakech, Morocco.
