Stade Malien Nigerian striker Adama Samuel Kizito has told SCORENigeria he believes he will go on to bigger things after using the West African country as a spring board.
The Kaduna-born star arrived at the 22-time Malian champions from Ethiopia after a brief stopover at Sokoto United to lay claim to striker’s shirt and the youngster is not doing badly.
Adama and his Stade Malien side were ousted by Moroccan champions Wydad Casablanca in the Champions League and will settle for a CAF Confederation Cup group stage place against Algerian champions JS Kabylie.
Adama missed the trip in Casablanca, but will be back on February 14 against JSK, leading the attack and aiming to shoot down the Algerian champions.
Adama passed off a chance to move to Egypt due to the Covid-9 Pandemic after his Ethiopian side denied him a move to Qatar’s Al-Ahli, but instead took a chance in Mali after former Super Eagles’ assistant coach Valerie got him over.
Adama is in safe Nigerian hands at the biggest and the most successful club in Mali as fellow striker Okechukwu Kalu and the club’s third coach and ex-player, Emmanuel Umoh, are helping to fly Nigeria’s flag there.
“The club are well managed and better professionally managed than clubs in Nigeria,” he told SCORENigeria
“Most clubs here are run professionally just like in Europe and elsewhere because there’s no government influence.
“Clubs are not run by the state or government like what we have in Nigeria but by a group of rich individuals who invest heavily in the clubs.
“The clubs are headed by clubs presidents who are elected from the rich that invest in the club.
“My club play in a 50,000 capacity stadium and currently 10 of my colleagues are playing in the CHAN in Cameroon.
“Even in the Mali national team, my colleagues are also involved, you can understand how big the club are.
“Coach Umoh and Kalu have been great companions here in Mali and I enjoy every moment with them.
“Coach Umoh has been here for long and settled in nicely, he won CAF Confederation Cup title with them and he’s well accepted here.
“I hope to move on to bigger challenges from here.”
