Ike Ugbo has closed the gap on Paul Onuachu in the race for the Belgian top scorers’ award after he netted his seventh goal in the championship.
The Chelsea loanee scored a brace on Saturday to help Cercle Brugge defeat hosts Waasland-Beveren 2-0.
The 22-year-old forward gave his side a 1-0 lead in the 43rd minute.
He completed his brace with eight minutes to spare in the game to take his goals’ haul to seven in 10 games, two goals short of the league’s leading scorer, Paul Onuachu.
Ugbo, who has represented England at various age-group levels, has previously played for MK Dons, Scunthorpe United, Barnsley (all in England) and Roda JC (Holland).
