Club Brugge have lined up Emmanuel Dennis more often in the Champions League than the league with the hope the Nigeria winger could finally move for a record fee in the summer.
Dennis was widely predicted to make a big-money transfer this past summer, but no bid met the 25 million Euros valuation of the Belgian champions.
The winger himself has said he plays for the big occasion and coach Philippe Clement appears to agree as he has played him for 255 minutes in the Champions League after three rounds of group games.
In the more regular league, Dennis has clocked 367 minutes so far.
Dennis has been listed for tonight’s league game against KV Kortrijk, but he may play a bigger role for Tuesday’s crucial Champions League clash at Borussia Dortmund.
According to Het Nieuwsblad, Club Brugge strategy is to keep Dennis fresh for the big games.
In the Champions League, the Nigerian can play himself in the spotlight at many European top clubs.
Dennis himself has made it very clear to taking a bigger step away from Belgium.
His contract with Club Brugge will run until 2022, while his market value is 16 million Euros.
