Zaidu Sanusi of FC Porto has come to stay in the Super Eagles and unless Jamilu Collins steps up his game, he will lose out in the national team, according to Germany-based journalist Oma Akatugba, who covered the friendlies against Algeria and Tunisia in Austria.
“Zaidu has come to stay in the Super Eagles at leftback,” Akatugba said on a television interview.
“He has impressed everyone here.”
Zaidu debuted against Algeria and snuffed out Manchester City and former African Footballer of the Year Riyad Mahrez.
He was again solid in his second cap against Tunisia even though he was forced out of the encounter no thanks to a groin complaint.
Collins has manned the leftback position since after the 2018 World Cup.
However, Akatugba said he will have to shape up against Zaidu or he will be shipped out of the team.
“Unless he raises his game, he will be gone,” he warned.
