SCORENigeria can exclusively report that coach Abdu Maikaba we well as his counterparts Ibrahim A.Musa and Fatai Osho of Kano Pillars and Enyimba, respectively, may not be allowed to lead their clubs in continental competitions this year because they do not possess the minimum qualification of a CAF A coaching license.
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) have now made it mandatory that any club for their competitions have to be led by a coach with at least an A license.
Plateau United and Enyimba will represent Nigeria in the CAF Champions League, while Kano Pillars and Rivers United will feature in the CAF Confederation Cup.
However, Maikaba, Musa and Osho all have CAF B coaching licenses with only coach Stanley Eguma of Rivers United having an A license.
An official of one of the affected clubs simply told SCORENigeria: “You should direct your question on this matter to the NFF.”
It must be noted that the various CAF certified coaching courses in Nigeria have been suspended following reports of irregularities.
This has therefore not allowed some of the country’s top coaches to get the necessary certification.
