Cyriel Dessers today simply said “as a little boy you dreamed of great things. I dreamed of KRC Genk” after he completed his transfer to the Belgian club.
“Now I am ready. Now I am where I want to be “, he added.
The 25-year-old striker was rewarded for his goals in Holland with a four-year contract by his local team, who splashed out four million Euros for him.
The former Heracles star is expected to soon make his Super Eagles debut after he opted for Nigeria instead of Belgium.
He will also form an all-Nigeria strike force with Paul Onuachu at Genk.
Genk sports director Dimitri De Conde said they have signed a proven goal scorer.
“Cyriel has developed excellently in the Netherlands as a footballer and as a real goal scorer,” he remarked.
“He is Belgian, still young and ready to take the next step in his career.
“That he was already a supporter of our club as a child, makes it even more beautiful. “
