Cyriel Dessers has revealed he was shattered he could not make his Super Eagles debut against Sierra Leone in March, but he still looks forward to forming a deadly strike force with Victor Osimhen.
Dessers has opted to play for Nigeria and not Belgium and he could have made his debut against Sierra Leone in March before the game was shifted due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
“It hurts because I thought this was going to be one of the best moments of my life, or of my career. When that was canceled, it was really painful, ” he told the BBC in reference to the rescheduled 2021 AFCON qualifier.
However, the Dutch league Goal King is now looking forward to partnering Osimhen in the Eagles attack.
“I look forward to seeing Victor Osimhen. I watch football a lot and especially attackers. I think a striker like Osimhen is great. I hope I can help and support him,” he said.
“Nigeria has a young team. Much of the selection is in Europe, so I think the adjustment will go smoothly. I hope they quickly accept me in the team.”
Dessers also revealed his Nigerian idol – Austin ‘Jay Jay’ Okocha.
