The Belgian league general assembly today finally crowned Club Brugge, who parade Emmanuel Dennis and David Okereke, as champions after the season was called off due to the Coronavirus Pandemic.
This will be Dennis’ second championship medal, while Okereke celebrated his first season in Belgium in style with his first major honour in Europe.
It’s Club Brugge’s 16th championship.
They were runaway table leaders after 29 matches and will feature in the UEFA Champions League.
Bottom club Waasland-Beveren were relegated, but have said they will seek redress in court.
An initial coronation of Club Brugge was frowned at by UEFA but since then the Dutch and the French leagues have prematurely concluded their seasons on account of the Coronavirus Pandemic.
It was also decided that next season will have 16 teams with a shortened championship playoff.
