Janet ‘Semenya’ Akekoromowei will play for the Falconets at next month’s U20 Women’s World Cup in Poland even though Portuguese champions Benfica are against this.
“The player’s representatives and the NFF insist that she will be at the World Cup. That’s final,” a source familiar with the situation informed SCORENigeria
“She’s already on her way back to Nigeria to resume training camp with the Falconets in Abuja.”
This followed today’s virtual meeting that included Semenya’s representatives as well as Falconets coach Moses Aduku.
Benfica barnished the big striker to the second team, saying she is not fit.
They also maintained that as many as six players including those from Portugal will not be released for the World Cup.
