The Super Eagles won a fourth straight Unity Cup, playing some eye-catching football, two clean sheets and scoring some great goals and the reward for all that was a paltry $500-per match.
SCORENigeria has exclusively gathered that the players were paid $1,000 each as appearance fee for the latest Unity Cup win.
They beat Zimbabwe 2-0 in the semifinal before they dumped Jamaica 3-0 in the final.
A source informed SCORENigeria: “The payment of appearance fee of $1,000-a-player this time is an improvement on last year, when nothing was paid.
“It may not be out of the free will of the officials though, remember that the NFF elections are around the corner.”
The payment of the appearance fee has raised eyebrows as it is widely rumoured that the tournament organisers paid “a substantial amount of money” as prize money to the winners.
