With the late arrivals of several top stars, it will be a largely experimental Super Eagles who will take to the pitch tonight against the Warriors of Zimbabwe that have proved a tough nut to crack for the Unity Cup defending champions.
Captain Wilfred Ndidi, Moses Simon, Bruno Onyemaechi, Raphael Onyedika and Jerome Akor did not feature in the Super Eagles final training Monday and so are likely to miss tonight’s clash.
Experienced goalkeeper Francis Uzoho, Igoh Ogbu, Tochukwu Nnadi, Jerome Akor, who all featured at the 2025 AFCON in February as well as recalled stars Terem Moffi and Alhassan Yusuf will therefore be expected to start.
Winger Femi Azeez and goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo, who both shone in the Championship in England this past season could make their international debuts.
Zimbabwe, who will be led by the experienced midfielder Marvelous Nkamba, are also rebuilding and will therefore cap several new players in this encounter.
Both teams cancelled out each other in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
The Super Eagles forced a 1-1 draw in the first clash played in Rwanda in 2024, while the reverse tie in Uyo last year saw the Warriors snatch a late heart-breaking equaliser.
Kick-off tonight at The Valley is 7.30pm.
