Victor Osimhen is the new Didier Drogba, according to the Lille striker’s former teammate at Belgian club Sporting Charleroi.
Nicolas Penneteau played alongside Osimhen at Charleroi last season.
He has described the Super Eagles striker as a phenomenon who can go all the way top like Drogba.
“He doesn’t surprise me. When he first arrived, two clubs had refused to recruit him due to minor physical problems,” he recalled.
“But from the first training we saw that he was a player of another class.
“I said that when he moved to Lille, but I think he could be the next Drogba in the French league.
“He has all the qualities of a modern striker. He is fast, he jumps high, he is strong in duels, good with the ball, he can play deep. He will get rid of his small shortcomings over time.
“He is a phenomenon.”
Osimhen has netted 18 goals in 38 officials matches this season and has been linked with some of Europe’s top clubs as a result.
