Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh was among the first people to congratulate Ademola Lookman after his goal proved to be the tie breaker that lifted Atletico Madrid past fellow La Liga rivals Barcelona to the semifinal of the UEFA Champions League.
Ademola Lookman fired home off a quick counter to pull a goal back after half an hour of action Tuesday night.
Atletico lost the home leg 2-1, but went through to the semifinal of the Champions League 3-2 on aggregate after they won at Barcelona 2-0 last week.
Ademola Lookman thus became the first Nigerian star since Kelechi Iheanacho in 2016 to reach the last four of the competition.
Oliseh was full of praise for the Super Eagles forward for his role in Tuesday’s entertaining clash.
“Talk about being an absolute influential player! I am extremely happy For Lookman. His goal made the difference. he is also showing so much maturity that is quite remarkable,” he posted on X soon after Atleti had booked their passage to the Champions League.
