A bonus dispute involving the Super Eagles and the NFF has yet to be resolved even months after the 2025 AFCON.
SCORENigeria first reported that the Super Eagles are demanding they be paid $17,000 each for finishing third at the AFCON in Morocco.
This was the amount they would have pocketed had they beaten hosts Morocco in the semifinal.
They have since demanded that they be paid that amount after they beat Egypt on penalties after the draw in the third-place match of the tournament.
The NFF leadership told the players at the recent friendlies in Turkey that they have now agreed to pay them half of the amount – $8,500.
However, some of the senior players in the team disagreed.
“How can you say we played a draw with Egypt when we beat them on penalties and we have medals to show for finishing third at the AFCON?” one of the prominent players in the team questioned NFF president Ibrahim Gusau.
