Former Super Eagles captain Segun ‘Mathematical’ Odegbami has expressed concerns that the country may not fly high at the 2025 AFCON because they will be without two important defenders.
“Nigeria have done well at the AFCON in part due to a solid defence, but they will be going into this tournament without two of their best defenders – Ola Aina and Benjamin Fredrick,” Odegbami said on Eagle7 FM
“The Super Eagles will miss Ola Aina and Fredrick.
“If Ola Aina had played against DR Congo (2026 World Cup Playoffs), we won’t have lost that game.
“And Benjamin Fredrick is currently our best defender.”
Both players have been sidelined from the AFCON by injury.
