Chuba Akpom, who has pledged his international future to the Super Eagles, has praised the fans after he scored his first goal for Ipswich Town.
The Ajax loanee scored for the English Championship side in a 2-0 win over Hull City.
He had gone 12 games without a goal and said the fans gave him a “big push” to finally get off the mark.
“Every striker wants to score goals and I’m really thankful to the fans,” Akpom said.
“There’s been games where I’ve come on and they’re still signing my name and I haven’t even got my first goal yet. That really gave me a big push.
“I’m really glad to get off the mark.”
He said he hopes to do “the right things, keep working hard and keep playing for the team” so as to score more goals.
