The Super Eagles enjoy a superiority over DR Congo in their head-to-head meetings as they have won four of the previous seven matches between them.
They lost twice to the Congolese, while there has been only a draw between the two teams, who have not been regular opponents.
Nigeria were at the end of a 5-0 thrashing when the teams first clashed in a friendly in Kinshasa in December 1969.
It was at a time when DR Congo (then Zaire) were ruling African football.
However, Nigeria enjoyed a sweet revenge seven years later when they defeated them 4-2 at the 1976 AFCON and then 1-0 at the 1990 AFCON.
Nigeria continued their winning run against the Congolese at the 1994 AFCON with a 2-0 win.
The Super Eagles soared past DR Congo 5-0 in a friendly in Abuja in 2010, before the Congolese won their second game against the Nigerians five years later.
They beat Nigeria 2-0 in a friendly played in Vise, Belgium.
The only draw between the two teams was recorded in 2018 World Cup warm-up game for Nigeria.
It finished 1-1 in Port Harcourt as the Super Eagles got set for the World Cup in Russia.
