It must be sweet music in the ears of many Super Eagles fans as goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has returned to full team training with Serie A club Udinese after he served out his suspension for a betting-related offence.
“We welcome Maduka back,” said Udinese technical director Nani.
“But the choices (of who plays) are up to the coach, who has maximum freedom.”
Okoye’s return has coincided with calls for Super Eagles No 1 goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali to be kept on his toes by a better competition.
Nwabali’s antics in recent times has been a major cause for concern as the Super Eagles get set for a continental Playoffs next month, which they hope to win to keep their hopes of still qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
Super Eagles great Segun ‘Mathematical’ Odegbami is the latest person to call for a new goalkeeper for the team.
“One very important position is getting a safer pair of hands for his goal,” Odegbami tasked Eric Chelle in his weekly syndicated column

If Victor boniface is too fat, what about nwabali super eagles goalkeeper?
