Tonight, the Flying Eagles fell 1-0 to Norway in their opening group game of the 2025 World Cup in Talca, Chile.
The match winner for Norway was captain Rasmus Holten, who put away a penalty after just eight minutes when a review requested by the Norwegians that captain Daniel Bameyi handled the ball inside his box was eventually granted by the referee.
Before that goal, the Nigerian lads gave Norway a huge scare when striker Kparobo Ariehi rattled the crossbar.
As expected, the Flying Eagles chased the game after the break, but they failed to cancel that early lead.
They even had two penalty appeals dismissed with Tahir Maigana’s effort early in second half also hitting the goal post.
