Atalanta top shots may be openly critical of Ademola Lookman in the fallout of the transfer standoff of the season, but it has been reported that they may table a new and improved deal for the player after he resumed full team training.
According to Tuttomercatoweb, Atalanta co-owner Stephen Pagliuca is in Bergamo to resolve the issue with the player.
He has a good personal relationship with Ademola Lookman and he defended him when coach Gian Piero Gasperini slammed him for a missed penalty last season.
The player’s agents want the situation to remain unresolved so that the club would be forced to sell him in January.
It is now understood they wish to present a new contract for the Nigerian star, which will not delay a 2027 expiration date but it would raise his salary and include a release clause of 40 million euros.
Atalanta refused a 45 million euros bid by Inter Milan for the forward this past summer.
