With his transfer saga now finally put to bed, Victor Osimhen will be expected to shoot the Super Eagles back on track for qualification to the 2026 World Cup when the qualifying series resume next month.
SCORENigeria scooped that Osimhen is one of five strikers listed by coach Eric Chelle for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda (September 6, Uyo) and South Africa (September 9, Bloemfontein).
He has now quit Napoli to sign a historic permanent deal with Turkish champions Galatasaray.
In March, he scored all three goals as the Super Eagles beat hosts Rwanda 2-0 in Kigali, before they were held to a 1-1 draw by Zimbabwe in Uyo.
Cyriel Dessers, who shone at the Unity Cup in London and Tolu Arokodare, who made his debut in Rwanda also made the squad, along with Victor Boniface and Sadiq Umar.
Despite a sparkling start to the new season, Trabzonspor striker Paul Onuachu has been overlooked for this round of qualifying games.
He made the first selection of Eric Chelle in March.
